Our StorySwim Consultants began as a simple idea shared between a decorated coach and his former swimmer. The foundation of the company was built on trust, long-term development, and a genuine love for competitive swimming. The partnership first formed when Coach Mike McBryan guided John Devaney to his first national-level cut and an individual pool record. During this time, Mike was also providing similar individualized support to several other high-performing collegiate swimmers who relied on his training insight, technical corrections, and race preparation throughout their seasons. As John moved into collegiate swimming, their connection continued to grow. Mike created individualized offseason training plans, combined strength and swim programs, and consistently offered guidance on race strategy, technical refinement, and the mental preparation required for high-level performance. After John graduated from college, both he and Mike recognized a broader opportunity. Many swimmers were striving to break through, but lacked support tailored to their strengths, goals, and racing strategy. At the same time, coaches were searching for modern approaches, updated training concepts, and reliable perspectives to help guide their teams in a sport that is constantly evolving. Traditional structures often did not provide the time or individualized resources needed for swimmers or coaches to reach their full potential.Swim Consultants was created to address these needs. What began as one coach helping one athlete grow has developed into a service committed to elevating both swimmers and coaches. For swimmers, the focus is on clear technical instruction, personalized training feedback, and the mindset work needed to compete with confidence. For coaches, the aim is to offer collaborative support, thoughtful program planning, and an experienced partner who understands the demands of leading athletes and organizing effective training.Today, Mike and John bring their combined experience in coaching, performance development, communication, mentorship, and program design to anyone ready to progress with purpose. Swim Consultants exists to help swimmers master key details, strengthen their mentality, and create real breakthroughs. It also exists to give coaches practical solutions and current perspectives that enhance the work they already do.At its core, Swim Consultants is driven by two people who genuinely love the sport and are dedicated to supporting those who share that passion, whether they compete in the water or guide athletes from the deck.
